About

Juhi Doshi

My name is Juhi Doshi and I'm an award-winning multimedia journalist who has a passion for reporting on politics. With the 2024 election around the corner, I decided to graduate early from Chapman University and move across the country to Washington, D.C. to intern for ABC News.

I studied political science and journalism while at Chapman, and interned for multiple print, digital, and broadcast outlets on both a state and national level. I interned in New York for MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports and worked across southern California for NBC Los Angeles, CBS News, POLITICO, and CalMatters.

Whether it be questioning high-ranking government officials at press conferences, producing my own story that landed on one of the most-watched primetime newscasts in the nation, or break down complex policy developments to better inform the public, the stories I produce aim to hold those in power accountable and humanize the issues of today. I was recently awarded the 2023 White House Correspondents' Association and Asian American Journalists Association Scholarship. I participated in an on-the-record press briefing and directed a question to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. Take a look!

I have grown multimedia skills such as being able to support my writing and reporting with video, editing, audio work, and photography. Here’s a quick recap of my recent work:

ABC News:
I support the White House, Capitol Hill, Justice, Political, Race and Culture, Digital, Global Affairs, and ABC News Live teams. In my first few weeks, I have reported on state primary elections, President Joe Biden's campaign efforts to mobilize minority voters, whether "double hater" voters -- people who are unhappy with both Biden and Trump -- can be convinced to vote, and a high-stakes SCOTUS case. See my author profile to read my stories. I was the first to break the news that Biden may face challenges getting on the Ohio ballot---this story received national attention and was cited by competitors like CNN and NBC.

MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports: I reported on a controversial surveillance power known as Section 702, prepared research packets for Andrea Mitchell, supported the team with three 4-hour long special coverage newscasts, assisted segment producers by working on stories ranging from domestic to international affairs, and shadowed NBC's Capitol Hill team.

NBC’s Los Angeles Political Unit (KNBC): I covered California politics and worked on one of the longest-running public affairs shows in the nation, "News Conference", with NBCLA's chief political correspondent, Conan Nolan. I started my first few weeks by covering President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 California U.S. Senate race, and the Monterey Park mass shooting.

Chapman News, my alma mater’s newscast and the only live broadcast in Orange County: I covered the second Republican Presidential Debate for the 2024 election, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' visit to Southern California, a local congressional race, and state politics.

CBS Evening News: I helped with the production of a wide variety of newscasts and packages for CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell, CBS Weekend News, and CBS Mornings. Most notably, I pitched and fully produced my own story about foster youth that aired nationally as a part of CBS’s “Eye on America” series.

POLITICO's California Bureau: I gained hands-on experience covering state politics and policy, and even directly questioned the Governor at a press conference. I drove around Southern California to cover an Orange County District Attorney Debate and the U.S. Education Secretary’s visit to Southern California.

I regularly contributed to the California Playbook Newsletter and the California Playbook PM Newsletter. I’ve watched dozens of legislature committee hearings and reported on water policy, education, healthcare, cannabis policy, criminal justice, and more. I also made it to the front page of politico.com as I helped write the ballot tracker.

CalMatters Newsroom: I covered higher education, and reported on women’s colleges, university mergers, the Omicron variant, and how campuses dealt with a return to in-person instruction. I challenged myself by spending five months reporting on this story, which I'm immensely proud of.

A Starting Point and BridgeUSA: As one of five students selected nationwide to participate in this fellowship, I helped produce 13+ informative videos featuring interviews with U.S Senators, U.S Representatives, Governors, and local officials.

The Panther, Chapman University's newspaper: I was awarded two “Best of Show” individual awards for best “COVID-19 Reporting” and best “Social Justice Reporting” by the Associated Collegiate Press. In the fall of 2021, I was the Managing Editor of The Panther, overseeing the sports, entertainment, features, and podcast sections.

I graduated from the 2021 Financial Times US News School as a part of the inaugural class. I learned about news distribution, multimedia journalism, advertising, and more from speakers from Axios, Google, the Emma Bowen Foundation, etc.

I’ve strived to understand politics by having a wide array of experiences such as working for a California Assemblyman, the nation’s largest nonpartisan grassroots anti-corruption group, and multiple civic engagement and education companies.

Aside from journalism, I have to experience counseling high-school students with mental health issues and teaching young girls a classical Indian dance form.

I am a proud member of the Asian American Journalists Association and the South Asian Journalists Association.
